Important information about COVID
As the number of Omicron cases (Omircron is a variant of COVID-19) spreads in communities across New Zealand we expect that you will have questions, concerns and worries. It is important not to panic, there is a lot of information and support available. Most people with COVID will be easily able to manage their symptoms at home without the need for a Doctor or hospital care. We encourage you to check out the below resources and links so you are prepared and better able to manage COVID should you test positive.
In other countries, when COVID case numbers have become large, general practices have been swamped with patients ringing for advice and this disrupted normal care. So, please be patient with the team at Belmont Medical Centre as we are doing out best to provide care to all our patients.
There is a dedicated COVID home isolation help line 0800 687 647. This line does get busy so be prepared to wait on hold.
Tips and resources for managing COVID at home
People with COVID should isolate for 10 days from date of first symtoms or from their positive test (if no symtoms). Only confirmed cases and household contacts need to isolate. All other contacts should monitor symptoms but do not have to isolate.
Manaaki/Welfare support for patients
The Ministry for Social Development (MSD) can provide support (food and fianncial assistance) to cases and contacts who are eligible.
Contact the free COVID welfare phone line on 0800 512 337 (7 days per week)
